We live in the wonderful North West of England....... Lancashire to be exact., which is not all Cotton Mills & Cloth Caps.
Lancashire is a place of diversity which includes the natural wonders of The Forest of Boland, Ribble Valley & the magnificence of Morecambe Bay . The historic City of Lancaster should also be mentioned.
We are from the city of Preston, where you will find Preston North End FC who were the first ever professional football team, the stadium also houses the National Football Museum.
The Harris Museun & Art Gallery in the city centre is worth a visit as well as the local pubs and covered market place. Preston is very proud of its ( Guild Merchant ) which is celebrated every 20 years ( Next one 2012 ).
Unfortunately Preston has been ruined in the last few years by the ( Poly ) becomeing a " University " and the money grabers have built some terrible / modern cheap buildings to house the students.
The Lake District is within easy reach were you can meet people from far away places like Newcastle, Japan & the USA.
Hoghton Tower is close by which is were King James 1st knighted a loin of beef to become what the rest of us now know as Sirloin beef.
Manchester is not far away but we only go there when we have to. ( I prefer Liverpool or Southport for a good day out ). Chorley has a open market on Tuesday where you can get anything you ever needed from Bolton to Taiwan & Hong Kong.
Church Street houses the Minster and The Bull & Royal,
where Charles Dickens once stayed and came up with the idea for his novel " Hard Times ".
